Deadlines by type of incoming student

You are encouraged to apply before the priority deadline for best consideration for admission into competitive majors or those with limited enrollment capacity.

Freshman

For best consideration for scholarships and admission to your major of choice, complete your application with accurate self-reported information before the priority deadline.

Please note: The Summer and Fall Term Application and Required Document Deadlines for freshmen are subject to change without notice.

Transfer Student

If you apply and submit all required documents before the priority deadline, you will have the opportunity to participate in advanced course registration. If you apply after the priority deadline, you may be admitted as space permits on a rolling basis.

Transfer applications are considered incomplete until all necessary documents, including transcripts, have been received. Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Graduate

Application periods will vary across all of our graduate programs. Before applying, please review the specific graduate programs you wish to apply for. The spring application opens on April 1. The summer and fall application opens in Mid-September. Please check Applying to Illinois State for the most up-to-date information.

Visiting and Non-Degree Seeking Students

International Student

Many graduate programs have earlier deadlines than the ones listed below. Check with the department or school of your intended program to find out if there is an earlier deadline.

Returning Student

If you left Illinois State on probation or were dismissed, you will need to follow the application process for the New Start readmission program.
